Your Japanese
Life Begins Here.

Learn Japanese. Understand the world around it.

From your first こんにちは to N1 and beyond, learn the language as it actually lives—in stations, homes, workplaces, shops, seasons, stories and the spaces between people.

Your reason matters

Why are you learning Japanese?

There is no single doorway into Japanese. Some people arrive with a suitcase. Some with a job. Some with a new apartment key. Others simply want to learn the language properly. Your route can be different without becoming a different language.

03 · Your first Japanese

You don't need to wait
to enter the language.

おはようございます。
Ohayō gozaimasu.
Good morning.
Staffおはようございます。Ohayō gozaimasu.Good morning.
Youおはようございます。これをお願いします。Ohayō gozaimasu. Kore o onegaishimasu.Good morning. This one, please.
Staffはい、ありがとうございます。Hai, arigatō gozaimasu.Certainly. Thank you.
You are not expected to read Japanese yet. Listen first. Romanization shows the sound; English shows the meaning. The scripts will come gradually.
Writing materials suggesting the three Japanese writing systems
04 · Three writing worlds

One language.
Three scripts.

Japanese writing can look impossible when everything arrives at once. We introduce each system as a tool with a job—not as a wall you must climb before you are allowed to communicate.

あ
Hiraganaa · a sound-based script used throughout native Japanese words and grammar.
ア
Katakanaa · the same sound, often used for foreign words, names and emphasis.
日
Kanjisun / day · a character that carries meaning and can have different readings.
You do not need to learn all three before you begin speaking Japanese. We introduce them gradually, when they become useful.
05 · How Indomura teaches

Learn something
because you need it.

First enter the moment. Hear the Japanese. Notice what happened. Then reveal the reading, meaning, grammar and cultural logic underneath it.

これをお願いします。
Choose the support you need. Leave the rest hidden.

06 · One phrase, many meanings
すみません。

It can open a question. Make space. Carry apology. Carry gratitude.

Vocabulary lists give you a translation. Life gives you a situation. Indomura teaches both.

Hear a real conversation

A few sentences are already a conversation.

Listen first. Then reveal only the support you need.

The complete Japanese journey

From first recognition
to independent thought.

The destination is not a certificate. It is the ability to live, read, listen, work and think with increasing independence in Japanese. JLPT preparation sits inside that larger journey.

Master the language

Build every part
of Japanese.

Progress is strongest when listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, kanji and pronunciation keep meeting each other.

Language doesn't live alone

Every word arrives
from somewhere.

Food, seasons, objects, clothing, craft, relationships and contemporary life give Japanese its texture. We open those windows when they help you understand the language—not as decoration.

From your first word to your own voice

Japanese gradually
becomes yours.

The milestones become less visible as you improve. At first you remember your first greeting. Later, you realize you have just solved a problem, followed a meeting or read something difficult without translating every line.

01First greetingJapanese is no longer silent.
02First purchaseA phrase becomes independence.
03Real conversationYou respond instead of rehearsing.
04Problem solvedThe language begins carrying your life.
05Your own voiceYou can say what you actually mean.

The goal is not to sound like a textbook. It is to become increasingly able to live, think and connect through Japanese.

Where are you
starting from?

Choose the situation that feels closest to your life. You can change routes later. Your progress still belongs to one Japanese journey.

Explore the learning world

The homepage is the entrance.
Your learning home goes deeper.

Follow a level, strengthen a skill, prepare for JLPT, solve a practical need, or enter Japan through the language. The detailed Learning Gateway brings journeys, missions and focused study together without duplicating the homepage.

16 · Continue your journey
また明日。

You do not have to understand Japan today. Learn one phrase. Notice one thing. Return tomorrow. A language becomes part of your life slowly—and then, one day, you realize it already has.

また明日。 Mata ashita. See you tomorrow · Hear it
Indomura Japanese · Learn Japanese Through JapanYour Japanese Life Begins Here
Numbers have entered the real world

Time, people and things
can now be counted.

You can give dates and years, talk about age, count people, and choose useful counters for general things, flat objects, long objects, small objects, machines and vehicles.

The important change is not that you memorised more numbers. Japanese has started teaching you to notice what kind of thing is standing in front of the number.

You began by learning numbers. Somewhere along the way, Japanese taught you to notice people, shapes, objects and the small architecture of ordinary life.
